The route "Podil - Obvidny Canal"

The route starts at the pier in Podil. Then we rise past Rybalsky Island, Muromets Park and Natalka Park, pass under the Petrovsky and North bridges, we go around North Island, go along Obolon and exit to Velikiy Island, pass by the mouth of the Desna and up to the channel to the Obvodny Canal

Description of the turning point

The Obvidny Canal stretches along the left bank of the Kyiv reservoir for 77 kilometers, and in some places its depth reaches 7 m. Despite the fact that this is an artificial structure, now the canal looks like a real river, with picturesque banks and clear water. Not all ships and yachts can enter the canal because of the road bridge near the hydroelectric power station, but those who can - get into an exceptionally interesting water area. On the banks of the Obvodny Canal, both public recreation clubs and territories built up with private property are now located.

During the construction of the Kyiv hydroelectric power station, the main channel of the Dnieper River was blocked, and the mighty waters of the main artery of Ukraine were directed through an Obvidny Canal.
