Leaving from the yacht club, the yacht passes along the Berkovshchina Bay and, leaving the Dnieper, goes around the island of Velikiy Yuzhny.
Description of the resting place
The largest areas on the island are sandy steppes - they occupy the entire central elevated part of the island. The narrow coastal strips of the island are covered with solid deciduous forest.
The island of Veliky Yuzhny is actually quite small in size (40 hectares), in contrast to the northern island of Veliky (315 hectares) and is a sandy island in the middle of the Dnieper river in the area of the Yuzhny bridge within the Goloseevsky district of Kiev. O. Veliky Yuzhny was formed from shoals, starting from the Venetian Island, through the islands of Maliy and Veliky Yuzhny to the south to the historic mouth of the Lybid River near Lysaya Gora, and in the 16th century it was known as Nikolsky or Osokoryansky Island.
It entered the protected area of the regional landscape park "Dnieper Islands" and is a relic of the hydrological situation in the Dnieper valley at least 500 years ago. Here also grows the Ukrainian goat and the Dnieper groundwort, which entered in 1991. to the European Red List.

Route "Osokorki - Vodnikov Island"
Leaving through the Berkovshchina Bay and bypassing the Great South Island around, the yacht passes under the South Bridge past the Temple of St. Nestor the Chronicler, and, passing the Deviation Tower and the Zhukov Island stretching on the right, the ship, past the wild island, will reach the destination of the walk - the Vodnikov Island.
Description of the resting place
Vodnikov Island (54 hectares) is a historical area on the territory of Kiev near Zhukov Island. The islands were connected by a dam, along which a highway was laid. A workshop of the Kiev shipbuilding and ship repair plant was built on the island and its bay was turned into a convenient harbor for the wintering of the river fleet. Now there is a large sandy beach on Vodnikov Island, it is convenient to cook barbecue, fish and swim here.
Before the revolution, the island was known as Chernechiy, since it had long belonged to the Kiev-Pechersk Lavra, and it was also called Galerny because, in addition to the convenience of the pier, it resembled a large galley barge in shape. In the 30s, for military purposes, a tunnel with a railway was laid through the island, but at the beginning of the war, the construction that had begun was mothballed and flooded, and in 1946. tubing and tunnel equipment were dug up and used in the construction of the Kiev metro, and in 1974. Route "Osokorki - Olgin Island"
From the Berkovshchina Bay, the yacht goes out to the Dnieper and past the Great South Island, skirting it on the right, passing under the South Bridge, descends along Kiev, then, passing by Zhukov Island, passes the Deviation Tower, Vodnikov Island and, rounding the spit of the shallow Olginsky Island, sticks to O. Olgin.

Route "Osokorki - Rzhishchev"
The walk begins in Kiev on Osokorki, through the Berkovshchina Bay we go out to the Dnieper, around Veliky Yuzhny Island and downstream under the South Bridge, past the Temple of St. Nestor the Chronicler, the Deviation Tower, along the Zhukov Island, skirting about Vodnikov and Olgin Island and, having come out to a series of wild islands, the yacht passes by Ukrainka, Tripillya and along the bends of the Dnieper reaches Rzhishchev.

On the right bank of the Dnieper there is a small town of Rzhishchev, and on its outskirts is the Ivan-Gora tract on the top of which the first settlements of the Tripillya era were discovered in the 19th century (the Ipatiev Chronicle of 1151 mentions the fortress Ivan-Gorod, a collection point for fight against Yuri Dolgoruky). In the middle of the Dnieper there is a sandy Lysaya Mountain (also called Hopkins Island), at the top of which a cross was installed. A beautiful view of the landscape reserve "Boryspil Islands" opens from here (this place in the old days was considered a healing place of power). And closer to the left bank on the island there is a popularly known "flooded church" (the Church of the Transfiguration of the Savior, built in 1822 in the village of Gusentsy) - for the construction of the Kanev hydroelectric power station and the creation of a reservoir, a number of coastal villages were flooded, incl. the village of Gusentsy, as a result, the temple ended up on one of the islets.
